ART 211 "Film Still Portrait(s)" Project
Objective: Students will start to view a photograph as a means of storytelling, starting to critically think about the ways they can engage with the camera, and environments, to craft narratives. They will have the opportunity to craft, or simply use, the environment to assist in creating a scene that they - or who they wish to become - exist within. Within the framework of Cindy Sherman’s body of work Untitled Frame Stills, students will explore what it means to interpret photos not only personally, but in the grander scheme of society, and how our environments, both social and personal, influence the ways that we consume photographs and visual media.
